Geraldine Miskin is a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist who runs a successful private practice in London, UK since 2003.
She is the author and creator of The Miskin Method, a unique approach to breastfeeding which primarily focusses on the practical elements of breastfeeding and enabling mums to find breastfeeding solutions, according to their unique anatomy, physiology, delivery and life style choices. Her approach results in a tailor made solutions for each client.
As a nanny, she witnessed the pain and frustration many of her employers suffered with the arrival of a new baby. Breastfeeding rarely came as easily or naturally as mums were told it would and this often led to mums giving up sooner than they would have liked to.
On a quest to make a difference, she met with a Lactation Consultant who offered her an 18 month internship. Here she learnt how to assess and encourage each mum as an individual and offer practical tools that would help them realise their breastfeeding goals.
In 2003 Geraldine set up her own practice which has grown through word of mouth referrals ever since. Geraldine was invited into the Birth Company in Harley Street in 2005 where she consulted with mums and ran monthly breastfeeding workshops until 2008.
In 2007 Geraldine launched ‘Breastfeeding for beginners’ the first of her six breastfeeding eBooks and helped mums overcome breastfeeding problems globally.
After recognising patterns development, Geraldine decided to share her knowledge on some of the most common breastfeeding problems, in order to further support and help breastfeeding Mums.
Her problem specific eBooks were launched in 2009 where she focussed on some of the key issues many of her clients sought help for, namely Sore Nipples, Mastitis, Low Milk Supply and Expressing, Breastfeeding a ‘fussy’ baby for when you aren’t sure what the problem really is.
She is currently updating these to include new finding and video content in order to give mums the tools they need to breastfeed, regardless of where they are in the world. They will also be iPhone and iPad compatible.
Geraldine continues to study human lactation and attend conferences in order to keep current. She uses her experience of helping thousands of mums to guide new clients to an enjoyable and rewarding breastfeeding experience. Her unbiased, non-judgemental approach ensures mums benefit from her experience to find a solution which best suits them.
